Justin Timberlake Makes Chart Toppping Collabs Look Easy

February 12, 2009

newsbuttonBillboard.com wrote a little chart analysis on Justin’s appearances on the Hot 100 since he stopped dropping singles from his second solo LP FutureSex/LoveSounds. Just another little reason why Justin’s so awesome:

‘GONE’ AT LAST: Justin Timberlake earns his 10th top 10 hit on the Hot 100, out of 16 chart entries under his own name. His latest top 10 hit is “Dead and Gone” (Grand Hustle), credited to T.I. featuring Justin Timberlake. The single climbs 11-9 in its 10th chart week.

“Dead and Gone” is the third consecutive top 10 hit for Timberlake since September 2007. All three place Timberlake in the “featured” position to three different lead artists. This hat trick of top 10 hits includes “Ayo Technology” by 50 Cent featuring Justin Timberlake and Timbaland (No. 5 in September 2007) and “4 Minutes” by Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake (No. 3 in April 2008).

Timberlake was last in the top 10 as a lead artist in June 2007, when his “Summer Love” surfed to No. 6.

Justin Timberlake And Al Green’s Unexpected Performance . . . Explained

February 11, 2009

newsbuttonSo, how did the Grammy producers convince Justin to take Rihanna’s spot at the show this past Sunday? Well, according to Jack Sussman, CBS’ VP, it was pretty damned easy. EW.com asked him about in a recent interview:

When did you learn that Rihanna and Chris Brown weren’t going to make it?
The Grammy production team was knee deep in rehearsals at the Staples Center when they first got the call between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Sunday about the no-shows (Rihanna was supposed to immediately follow U2 with a medley of “Disturbia” and “Live Your Life” while Brown was going to sing “Forever” before Kid Rock’s performance). “Beyond thinking, I hope they’re okay, it immediately goes out of your mind because you’re too busy thinking about what to do next,” says Sussman. Justin Timberlake had just finished rehearsing his duet with T.I. when the team approached him in his dressing room about filling Rihanna’s spot with a brand new act. “Justin’s first words were, ‘what can I do to help?’” recalls Sussman. “That’s what you want to hear.” It was Timberlake’s idea to perform with Al Green, since the two Memphis natives had once performed “Let’s Stay Together” — and Green was already in town to present an award with Duffy. The veteran crooner was literally in his hotel bathtub when he got the call to rush to rehearsals, where he and Timberlake had less than two hours to prepare (Brown’s performance was not replaced).

Justin Timberlake At The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro Am

February 11, 2009

picsbuttonI am really not sure how Justin always manages to increase his sexiness, but I have to say I think this may be the sexiest golf outfit I’ve seen from him, and I’m not even really sure why. JT attended the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro Am with a ton of other celebs. Read about the event below, and check out some pictures as well.

The Sexy Back singer clowned around at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am event along with a host of other stars.

The contest sees stars from various industries competing for a $1.6million prize – which goes to a good cause.

The six-day sporting show dates back to the 1930s when Bing Crosby gathered a few friends to raise money for charity.

Back in the day, the prize money stood at just $500 but it has been growing steadily since.

Golf enthusiast Bing was to die doing what he loved most – after keeling over on a Spanish golf course in 1977.

Timberlake, who is rumoured to be engaged to Jessica Biel, performed at the Grammy Awards with Al Green on Sunday after a last-minute cancellation by Rihanna and Chris Brown.

Justin Timberlake Denies Ownership Of Southern Hospitality

February 11, 2009

newsbuttonUh, what? Turns out, Justin and Trace are only behind the idea of the Southern style resturaunt. As far as the management, Justin seems to know nada.

Justin Timberlake is baffled by reports he’s a successful restaurateur who’s about to open his second New York

hotspot – insisting he doesn’t own any eateries.

The SexyBack hitmaker was reported to have opened the Big Apple’s Southern Hospitality restaurant in a joint venture with his pals Trace Ayala and Eytan Sugarman in 2007.

Recent reports claimed the trio was so happy with the barbecue spot, they’re about to expand with a second venue in New York.

But Timberlake has moved to clarify the reports – insisting that while the trio discussed plans for a home-cooked-style restaurant, the idea never materialised and Southern Hospitality is all Sugarman’s.

“Southern Hospitality has been open for over a year now, and is Justin and Trace’s favourite place in New York for truly authentic Memphis-style Bbq and ribs.”

His representative tells People.com, “Approximately three years ago, Justin and his close friends, Eytan Sugarman and Trace Ayala, discussed the idea of bringing Memphis-style Bbq and ribs to the New York City marketplace.

“The three friends spent a year creating the Southern Hospitality concept and were actively involved in all elements of design, menu, offerings, and musical format.

“While Justin and Trace continue their friendship with Eytan, and continue to provide fresh ideas and promotion for Southern Hospitality, they are not investors

, owners or partners, nor do they have any knowledge of or involvement in the operations of the restaurant.

Well, I guess that busboy can stuff it, haha. Now I’m hungry . . .

Justin Timberlake At The 51st Annual Grammy Awards

February 9, 2009

JT performed twice (thanks to Chris Brown’s ridiculous arrest) this past Sunday at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards in LA. He sang Let’s Stay Together with the famous Al Green and Boyz II Men (this song has never  sounded so sexy!). He also performed a heartfelt Dead & Gone with T.I. (is  it just me or is his voice getting stronger). You can watch both performances below.

I will  be giving you a photo update soon so stay tuned!

Justin Timberlake And T.I. Film Dead And Gone

February 7, 2009

newsbuttonJT and T.I. have filmed the next single release from Paper Trail, Dead And Gone. ET Canada was there on the set while MTV got a chance to sit down and talk to T.I. about working with Justin, the video shoot and the forthcoming Grammy Performance.

The article from MTV . . .

Tip and Timberlake: It has a certain ring to it — an award-winning ring, if you will.

T.I. and Justin Timberlake collaborated on the former ‘NSYNC singer’s “My Love” from his 2006 album, FutureSex/LoveSounds; the song won them the 2007 Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. Now, on the eve of this year’s Grammys, the two have joined forces again in Los Angeles to shoot a video for T.I.’s next single, “Dead and Gone,” featuring and co-produced by Timberlake. The clip will be helmed by longtime Tip collaborator Chris Robinson (”What You Know,” “ATL”) and will mirror the pair’s performance on Sunday at the Grammy Awards.

T.I. said working with Timberlake taught him a lesson in mass appeal.

“I learned how to cater to a different audience,” he told MTV News on Wednesday about working with JT. “To stay on a different demographic’s mind. What Justin do, I don’t do the same way as him, but I can accomplish the same things using a different approach. He showed me that I can do just that on ‘My Love.’ If I did ‘My Love’ over a DJ Toomp beat, it would have probably been ‘Get Loose’ [an album cut from Urban Legend]. But you put Justin on a track, and it’s Grammy Award-winning ‘My Love.’ So it taught me if you take the same thing you have right here and [add] a few more different elements that you can definitely appeal to a different crowd.”
