Justin Timberlake Talks Next Year’s Shriner’s Open and Artist Collabos With MTV News

Justin recently spoke to MTV News about his plans for the next Justin Timberlake and Friends Benefit Concert as well as his most recent activity in the studio, including trying to push for a duet with Leona Lewis and working with Rihanna on tracks that could end up on her new record.

Justin Timberlake brought a star-studded lineup to his “Justin Timberlake and Friends: A Special Evening Benefiting the Shriners Hospitals for Children” concert at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas on Friday. 50 Cent, Rihanna, the Jonas Brothers, Leona Lewis, Will.I.Am, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, Boyz II Men and Lionel Richie graced the stage with him.

The evening’s highlights included Timberlake dueting with Levine, the two of them performing with 50 Cent, and Timberlake teaming up with Will.I.Am and Richie for the Commodores’ hit “Easy,” according to StarPulse.com. Will.I.Am also joined Timberlake onstage.

“We sent letters,” Timberlake told MTV News about how he secured such a strong lineup. “We had to go through publicists, but we sent letters. I actually had more responses than we were able to use. [For] the event we got like everybody and their mother on the list. It’s a great, great organization. They’ve helped so many kids, even over the last year. So that’s what we’re doing. We’re rocking out for the kids.”

Timberlake — who also held a golf tournament supporting the organization — admitted he’s already lining up guests for next year’s concert.

Timberlake officially “retired” his 2006 hit “SexyBack” at Friday’s show, and also told MTV News that he’s focusing on working with other artists, rather than his solo career, for the time being.

“As far as myself I don’t have that … I could change [my mind] next week, but I don’t have the bug to jump in and start the whole process again, and touring again. I do love it, but it’s tiring,” he admitted.

In addition to his recent work with Madonna and T.I., he also talked about tracks he recorded with Rihanna. “[Recently] I worked with Rihanna, hopefully working on her next record,” he said. “She’s on a roll. I think she sort of has something different to offer. You can use her voice as a template for many different styles. She has a keen fashion sense and on top of that she’s hot. Whatever it is, she’s got it.”

However, he declined to get into details about who else he’s been working with. “I’ve been working with different people here or there,” he said. “I feel weird. You’ll hear it when it comes out. I would love to give you everyone but there’s some stuff that might not work out due to business stuff, unfortunately.

“I’m going to go pimp myself to Leona Lewis, ’cause I think she’s an amazing singer!” he offered, then gave a joking offer to artists: “Give me a buzz! Just call me. I got beats, too,” he laughed.

I’ve got to give a big shout out and huge THANKS to Jodie Platz (pictured with JT below) for sending me her photos of Justin, Jessica, and cousin Rachel as he kicked off the Shriner’s Hospital for Children Open on Monday. Please do not use any of these photos on your site without crediting Jodie and JT 4 Breakfast.

In addition to sending in some amazing photos (including one of his cute butt), Jodie also informed me that Justin might be coming out with his own brand of liquor.

I was talking to someone who was playing in the tournament yesterday and they are going into business with Justin — he’s coming out with his own line of liquor. That’s all he would say, however.

I’m not an alcoholic, but thanks to the traumatic experience of having to write a life changing senior thesis, I will be so on top of this. Jodie also sent in a photo of JT’s car, a shiny black Escalade, which he is rumored to have driven from California to the tournament.

Justin Timberlake’s Shriner’s Open, Saturday Tees

Justin Timberlake’s Shriner’s Hospital Open Concert and After Party

There are some exceptionally cute photos of him holding Jessica here, made even more adorable by the fact that she’s wearing a hat just like his. I seriously can’t get enough of them . . . In addition, I’ve uploaded photos of his arrival at the Planet Hollywood Theatre (he looks super hot here). For those who attended the concert, you witnesed the end of an era. That’s right folks, Justin declared that October 17th (this past Friday) would be his last live performance of the hit single Sexyback.

Justin Timberlake has turned his back on his Sexyback after promising fans his performance of the smash-hit at his charity show in Las Vegas on Friday night (17Oct08) was the last time he’ll sing the song live.

The sell-out crowd gasped as Timberlake made the announcement before performing the song one last time.
 

I guess he finally got sick of the thing . . .

Justin Timberlake Dumped By Beyonce, Picked Up By Kylie Minogue

Really, Beyoncé? Turns out, JT won’t, in fact, be featured on Beyoncé’s new record entitled I Am… Beyoncé. Her father, and manager, Mathew Knowles told the press that any collabos for the album were dropped to better showcase Beyoncé’s growth as an artist.

Well, I say, boo! The song they did was probably amazing, especially since their voices blend so well together ( as evidenced by their Fashion Rocks performance). Also, although I love Beyoncé, her first two singles from this record are . . . um, crap. That kind of pains me to say . . .

In better news, Justin has revealed that he wants to jump in the studio with Aussie sensation Kylie Minogue (whom I absolutely adore).  

“I am writing new tunes now for the next album & I have a great idea for me and Kylie, so hopefully she will say yes and things will finally take off for her here [ in the USA], too,” said Justin.

I really hope this callob happens!
